I have Last FM, but don't really like it or use it - and don't understand it, to be honest.

ok it counts up your plays of artists songs and stuff then there is a shout box like a mini twitter for people artists and songs

Have been trying it out all day. I'm not keen on it, so am going to stick with Spotify - I'm inclined on it, and depend on it a lot more.
